Mount Meru Climb - 5 Days

Departure days: Daily departures with exclusive use of vehicle and driver guide.
The fifth highest mountain in Africa, mount Meru offers a challenging and interesting climb with an opportunity to view smaller wildlife on a more personal level capturing spectacular views of Meru’s more famous snow-capped cousin – Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 1 Base Hotel (D)
Transfer to the hotel to prepare for the climb.
Overnight: Dik Dik Hotel

Day 2 Miriakamba Hut 9,020 ft.(BLD)
Transfer to the Momella Gate at 1,500m (4,920ft), trekking for about 3 hours with the ranger-guide and porters to the hut.
Overnight: Miriakamba Hut

Day 3 Saddle Hut 12,300ft. (BLD)
A steep walk for 4 hours to the hut at 3,750m. An optional afternoon walk to Little Meru Peak at 3,820 m (12,530).
Overnight: Saddle Hut

Day 4 Summit Day! 14,974 ft. (BLD)
Early morning walk to the summit at 4,565 m. approximately a 10 hour trek to the park gate and transfer back to the hotel.
Overnight: Dik Dik Hotel

Day 5 Arusha (B)
Morning transfer to Arusha.

Optional Extra day:
Those wanting more time on the mountain can add a second night at Miriakamba Hut on the summit day, increasing the time on the summit and splitting the descent over two days.
